Caesar dressing / raw-egg dressings

In pregnancy: Only if… While breastfeeding: Safe

Rare, but serious if it happens

What makes it safe

Use shop-bought, pasteurised

Why

Traditional dressing with raw egg and anchovies: salmonella risk. Prefer commercial (pasteurised) versions.

It changes after the birth

You can eat this again while breastfeeding: the pregnancy-specific risks (listeria, toxoplasmosis, salmonella) no longer apply after birth. Keep normal food hygiene.

Instead

  • Shop-bought Caesar dressing (pasteurised)
  • Greek yoghurt with lemon and parmesan
  • Extra virgin olive oil and lemon
