Fish tartare

In pregnancy: Never While breastfeeding: Safe

Rare, but serious if it happens

Why

Raw fish (even if blast-frozen): listeria and bacterial risk. Avoid in pregnancy regardless of quality.

It changes after the birth

You can eat this again while breastfeeding: the pregnancy-specific risks (listeria, toxoplasmosis, salmonella) no longer apply after birth. Keep normal food hygiene.

Instead

  • Cooked salmon
  • Baked cod
  • Tinned tuna
